My grandpa is truly the one who has inspired me to start this project. Aside from my backyard looking like a wreck, I actually think starting a little garden would be fun. And if at nearly 86 years old he and my grandma can maintain a garden (nearly at half an acre), then so can I! Since my grandfather was born in raised in Italy, many of the things he knows are from simply doing. There's nothing hard about maintaining his garden (unless you count keep the gophers/birds away from everything!), and most importantly it's very simple. I know some people use a special blend of 5 different types of fertilizers to make sure the levels of nitrogen or whatever are good in the soil, but his method is much more simple and intuitive as growing a home garden should be.
If I remember to bring my camera next time I'm over there I'll take a couple pictures of his garden.
